Mr. Buck holds a Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) from Williams College and a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He affiliated with Davis/Chambers in January, 2008. Mr. Buck is actively involved in the marketing of Davis/Chambers services, and assists Davis/Chambers partners in expanding its large corporate valuation projects, registered and unregistered securities valuations, and litigation support. Mr. Buck’s extensive investment banking and corporate board (including two Fortune 500 companies) experience gives him a unique understanding of how the real world values blocks of stocks of stocks and entire companies, which is often different from an academic valuation approach. He is a valuable advisory resource to Davis/Chambers.
Mr. Buck previously served as a Managing Director at Sanders Morris Harris (SMH Capital) in the Investment Banking Group. He was a senior member of the firm’s Natural Resources group, based in Houston.
Before joining Sanders Morris Harris in 2000, Mr. Buck was a Managing Director at Harris Webb & Garrison. He also spent 15 years as a Managing Director at Rauscher Pierce Refsnes, Inc. Prior to that, he served as First Vice President and Houston Corporate Finance Manager for Smith Barney, where he focused on energy companies. Mr. Buck was also associated with Rotan Mosle Inc. as Corporate Finance Manager, Director and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee; and with M.I.S., Inc. as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer.
He also has authored several published articles regarding accounting, corporate finance and economics.
Mr. Buck is a former Director of Smith International, Inc. (NYSE: SII), a Houston-based oilfield service and equipment company, and is a former Director of Frontier Oil Corporation, an owner and operator of refineries in Wyoming and Kansas (NYSE: FTO).
Mr. Buck is a current member of World Presidents Organization and a former member of Young Presidents Organization.
He is married with 2 children and 5 grandchildren.
